Customer Reviews

Just picked this up last night. To keep it simple, here's a pros and cons list of the coffee maker (not the k cup system)
Pros
Small. Fits really nicely anywhere.
Fast. Brews a cup in about 1-2 minutes.
Quiet. Not whisper silent, but quiet enough to not be annoying.
Taste. This is probably more a testament to the k cup system, but the coffee brewed tastes great.
Cheap. One of the cheapest, if not the cheapest k cup machine.
Cons
Brews in small quantities. It brews in only one size, and using a standard mug, it leaves an inch of room from the top. Average i Guess, but can be quite annoying if you enjoy larger portions, ex. Travel mug size.
Too short. Even after removing the drip tray that adds another 3/4 inch or so in height, you cannot fit many normal sized travel mugs underneath. Although, this is a moot point considering you'd only be filling it up about halfway, if even.
Temperature. Even handling immediately after brewing, the temperature is a bit too cool for me. Not to say its not hot enough if you drink it right away, because it is. But for those of you like me, who are looking to take a cup on the road every morning, i usually prefer that it be a little too hot, and have it cool off over time.
Water. It only holds one serving size of water. Must refill for every cup.
Haven't decided if im going to return it or not. The temperature and brew quantity are the biggest deal breakers for me, but not sure if its worth the extra 60 bucks to upgrade to a brewer that can do all those things.
Summary.
If you're looking for a cup of coffee at home that doesn't take a lot of space, this would be perfect for you.
If you're looking to fill up a travel mug, and/or take coffee on the road, I'd advise that you look at other options.
Update 1/24/2011
Ultimately I decided to stick with this unit, mostly due to cost and laziness. For my personal use, I've actually found it quite adequate (despite my cons list in my original review).
After using this for awhile now, the omission of a temperature setting is not a big deal, as everything still comes out hot enough for me. The fact that it only brews in one (slightly too small) size still kind of sucks, but not like "I HATE IT" sucks, but more like bothers-me-when-I-really-need-a-caffeine-fix-once-every-couple-weeks sucks. Ultimately, it's insignificant enough that I've forgot about the issue.
The unit is holding up great. Still brews fast, brews hot, brews yummy.
The only slightly annoying thing that I've discovered, is that the drip tray seems to catch any water you don't get exactly in the little opening of the reservoir. So depending on how much you're paying attention when you fill it, it tends to fill up quickly (drip tray is not that deep). So I end up having to empty it at least once every few brews. Luckily it's parked right next to my wine bar sink, so it's not an issue. For those that are placing this inconvenient to a sink, it could get annoying.

I have two other friends that have Keurig coffee makers. They have the Platinum edition Keurig maker, and although theirs has more options... like different brewing capacities I find that this Mr Coffee works perfect for me and I've never had problems with it. Both of my friends have had problems with theirs. One of them had theirs totally die on them. When I was reading reviews, I found that it's pretty common for these Keurig coffee makers to have problems... especially with the pumps. That's why it seems like this Mr. Coffee one seems better built and more reliable. I think this machine is perfect for someone who likes strong coffee with milk and sugar. That's because the brewing capacity of this coffee maker is only 8 ounces. I'd like to add that you can control how much the machine brews by measuring out the water yourself and putting it in the reservoir. It simply brews all the water in the reservoir but can't do over 8 ounces. For my needs, it's perfect! But for those of you who want a large cup of strong coffee, I would buy another coffee maker that has a larger brewing cup capacity. That's really the only potential negative thing about this coffee maker. It's fast, solid performance and ease of use are stellar. This thing is perfect for a college student or someone who lives alone and doesn't need to brew a large pot of coffee. Here are some quick pros and cons for reference:
Pros:
-Great build quality. Very sturdy, reliable, and looks great.
-Fast and consistent brewing. It only takes about 3 to 4 minutes.
-The reusable "solo-fill" filter works great on this machine and doesn't leak
-Very simple to use
-Adjustable water capacity. Just pour how much you want to brew, as long as it's less than 8 Oz.
-Now available in 3 different colors!
Cons:
-Maximum brewing capacity is low. Only 8 oz. For some, this can be a deal breaker.
Conclusion:
I really love this coffee maker. I rarely give 5-Star reviews but I feel that this Mr Coffee Keurig coffee maker deserves it. It seems much more reliable than the other K-cup makers out there, even when compared to the much more expensive Keurig models. If you want one that you'll fall in love with and won't break your heart later(by dying on you months later) ... this one is it!
Extra Tips:
If you'd like to brew your own coffee and/or reduce waste, I would recommend buying a reusable filter to use with the Keurig coffee maker. Two great brands are the Ecobrew ; Solofill. You can use your own coffee without having to constantly buy more k-cups. Of these two, I think the Ecobrew is slightly a better product. It's easier to clean, fits better in the coffee maker, and is easier to rinse out.
